"We come to this ranger exchange to explore about bilby that comes from the desert to the seaside country."
In a workshop held in Fitzroy Crossing, the Ngururrpa and Nyul Nyul ranger teams connected over a shared tjukurrpa story about a bilby travelling from the desert near Ngururrpa to Nyul Nyul sea country. This shared story sparked a desire to expand their knowledge on bilby behaviour and habitat, leading to a ranger team exchange between the two groups.
During the exchange, Ngururrpa Rangers learnt about bilby surveys done by Nyul Nyul Rangers for Main Roads. This information will help the Ngururrpa ranger team with similar work in the desert as the Tanami Road gets upgraded.

The Ngururrpa Rangers also participated in cultural knowledge exchange. They recorded tjukurrpa, experienced saltwater ways of living and learned about the mission history that connected these two groups.
"We hope to gain experience in working on different grounds and make friends.”

"It was good to come out here with other rangers to learn about another country and learn new skills. It feels good."
