Two Boys Dreaming Story – Watti Watti Ularaka

20 minute watch

In 2019, Don Rowlands who is a Wangkangurru Yarluyandi elder and ranger in charge of Munga-Thirri National Park, led a journey across northern South Australia back to Birdsville.

The journey was a legacy to the old people that passed on knowledge to Don. One of those old people was his grandfather Watti Watti.

“Grandfather Watti Watti was the man who left me with all this information that I want to share with everyone on this journey.”

Don Rowlands, Wangkangurru Yarluyandi Elder

For Don it was the opportunity to follow in their footsteps by following the Two Boys dreaming story with his family.

Not surprisingly it was a powerful experience for everyone on the journey – bringing culture alive and reinvigorating his family’s connection to country.

The journey was supported by the Qld Department of the Environment and Science (DES) and documented by Luke Barrowcliffe, from GoorieVision.

The 10 Deserts Project supported the video and is assisting Watti Watti Custodial Services with the production of a book documenting the trip.
